The Manufacturing Performance Days industry event brings industrial leaders and renowned speakers to Tampere in June.
At the Manufacturing Performance Days (MPD) event, the focus will be on the opportunities of artificial intelligence in the manufacturing industry.
Now held for the ninth time, the event will gather in June 2025 top executives from the manufacturing industry, technology decision-makers, experts, and technology and service providers from around the world in Tampere.
The side event program provided by MPD partners has always been an integral and highly anticipated part of the event. This summer, the side events focus on diverse AI innovations that are transforming the manufacturing industry. The program aims to provide insights and solutions that enhance performance and productivity in a long-term and sustainable manner.
MPD partners offer an exciting lineup of events, including Beckhoff Automation’s “Beckhoff AI & Automation” and Dassault Systèmes’ “Empowering AI: How Virtual Twins Can Transform the Manufacturing Industry.”
Factory visits take place again this year, remaining a highly anticipated part of the program. Fastems will host a factory visit to their facility in Lahdesjärvi, Tampere as well as a visit to the Ingersoll Rand factory in Nokia.
Tampere University will showcase the latest scientific breakthroughs and innovations. Additionally, the traditional Austrian-Finnish research seminar will take place as an MPD pre-event on Tuesday, focusing on AI in production.
MPD will also bring key industry meetings to Tampere, including ManuFuture High-Level Group.
The interconnections of technology, business and people
The event will explore the theme of artificial intelligence from different perspectives: How does AI impact the manufacturing industry? Where do productivity impacts originate? How is the global geopolitical situation evolving? Where do productivity impacts arise? How is work changing? How can we integrate social, ecological, and economic perspectives? How can we prepare for the unexpected? All discussion topics will consider technology, business, and people, and their interconnections.
As a keynote speaker, the event presents Prof. Dr.-Ing. Thomas Bauernhansl, who is the Director of the Fraunhofer Institute for Manufacturing Engineering and Automation IPA, as well as the Director of the Institute of Industrial Manufacturing and Management IFF at the University of Stuttgart. Discussing the geopolitical situation are, among others, Filip Geerts, Director General of Cecimo, the European Association of the Machine Tool Industries, and Minna Helle, CEO of Technology Industries of Finland.
A new feature of the program will be a debate, where Futurice’s founder and the company’s AI and development leader, Tuomas Syrjänen, will challenge Harri Valpola, CEO of System 2 AI, on the topic of value creation through human factors and people.
The program further explores manufacturing from multiple perspectives with insights from Tero Hottinen, VP and Head of Strategic Partnerships at KONE, Dr. Andrew Lynch, Chief Innovation Officer at Irish Manufacturing Research and Emma Storbacka, CEO of Avaus.
The strategic partners of the event are Beckhoff, Dassault Systèmes, Fastems, Reaktor, Siemens, Technology Industries of Finland, Tampere University, VTT, DIMECC, CSC, AIKA Ecosystem, EIT Manufacturing, Elisa IndustrIQ, Netum, Teamviewer, Top Data Science, Brightly Works, Comatec, Fujitsu, IFM, Innofactor, Treon, Unikie, Data Design, Lenz, Missing Link, PipeCloud, Resoniks, Select AM and Spogen.ai. The event is supported by the City of Tampere, the Tampere Chamber of Commerce, the Finnish-German Chamber of Commerce, and European manufacturing industry networks ManuFuture, Cecimo, EFFRA and A.Spire.
