Manufacturing Performance Days brings top international speakers to Tampere in June. Ph.D. Andre Klein from John Deere corporation introduces the new John Deere electrical modular autonomous tractor and Dr. Pekka Tiitinen, Managing Director of ABB Oy, Finland, tells about the impact of electrification on industry.
The high-level industrial summit, Manufacturing Performance Days (MPD), focuses on sustainable and crisis-resistant development with the theme “Sustainable and Resilient Growth”. The future challenges and opportunities of the manufacturing industry are based on automation, electrification, batteries, circular economy, and reuse.
MPD event introduces speakers such as Ph.D. Andre Klein from John Deere corporation and Dr. Pekka Tiitinen, Managing Director of ABB Oy, Finland.
Andre Klein comes from Germany to share his experiences in robotics, automation, and system automation with the help of the new John Deere electrical modular autonomous tractor.
“Electrification is a key enabling technology for automated and autonomous machines. With more autonomous machines and functionality the role of the operator is shifted from controlling to supervising”, Klein says.
Operating in more than a hundred countries, ABB plays a central role in the electrifying world. About 45 percent of the world’s electricity is used as power for industry and buildings.
“In industry, the easiest way to influence energy costs and to curb climate change is to increase energy efficiency. High-efficiency motors and the frequency converters that control them play a big role in keeping the degree of electricity use as efficient as possible,” says Managing Director Pekka Tiitinen.
Industrial decision makers meet
In June 2023, Manufacturing Performance Days (MPD), an event focused on industrial renewal, will gather the top management of the manufacturing industry, technology decision makers, experts, and technology and service providers from around the world in Tampere.
MPD 2023, now in its eight year provides participants with benchmarks and insights into what impacts manufacturing performance, sustainability, future skills and capabilities, and new investments.
Dr. Minna Lanz, Professor of Mechanical Engineering and Automation at Tampere University is the Scientific Co-chair of Manufacturing Performance Days. The program focuses on the big change driving the industry, the green and digital transformation, i.e. the twin transition. Better productivity is aimed for in a fossil-free way, for example by increasing the use of automation and autonomous systems.
The strategic partners of the event are Beckhoff, Business Finland, Delfoi, DIMECC, Fastems, Siemens, Tampere University, Technology Industries of Finland and VTT, and partner organizations Machine Technology Center Turku, Turku Vocational Institute, Turku University of Applied Sciences, University of Turku, Vaisto and Åbo Akademi.
Previous MPDs in 2017 and 2019 attracted about 800 visitors to Tampere. In 2019, the event was organized by around 70 partner organizations.
