MatchXR brings together the people and technologies shaping the future

Will AI replace humans? Will uncertainty keep growing? What real opportunities do emerging technologies offer? MatchXR 2026 – Beyond Human Horizons addresses these and many other pressing questions about our future. The event also offers opportunities to try and explore solutions that are transforming everyday life today and in the near future.

The largest XR and emerging technology event in the Nordics brings together developers, industry, researchers, startups and international experts. Alongside XR, the event showcases artificial intelligence, robotics and digital twins.

Mark Sage, Executive Director of the Augmented Reality for Enterprise Alliance (AREA), will explore enterprise XR solutions, their measurable benefits and the path to adoption at scale.

What gives me a sense of wonder is the possibility of making knowledge available to someone at the moment they need it, while they remain focused on the world around them. Technology can help people become more capable and confident, without taking away their judgement or control. My concern is that we focus so much on what intelligent systems can do that we forget to ask what people need, Mark Sage says.

Jeremy Dalton, a respected expert with extensive experience in the field, will present XR use cases with proven benefits.

The biggest barrier to immersive technology has been the experience of wearing it. Smart glasses solve that. Familiarity drives adoption, and few things are more familiar than a pair of glasses. Add AI that sees and understands what you see, and the next era of computing may arrive in a form we’ve worn for centuries,” says XRHQ founder Jeremy Dalton.

Futurist Vitalia Sofronova will discuss how to turn weak signals into strategic action and thrive in a rapidly changing environment.

“As a futures practitioner, I do to not ignore the often justified future fears people have, but I view it as my responsibility to balance them out with the many signals for wonder and awe that exist alongside the scary or intimidating developments. They show us that there are good reasons to be hopeful now. These signals are, however, no guarantee for a more desirable future present. They require us to pick up the thread of possibility and to weave it further with our skills, ambition, and a curious mind.”

Companies like Nokia and Dassault Systémes also present their innovations and solutions on stage, who are supporting the event.

Alongside stage presentations and discussions, MatchXR features a wide range of solutions, live demonstrations and the latest research and development results. The exhibitors include leading Finnish organizations and a broad selection of international expertise. Highlights include Fynd Reality’s training solutions tested in Ukraine, Alluratech’s IT, software and platform solutions, and i-Oasis, known for its innovative haptic solutions. Dassault Systèmes, a specialist in virtual twins, brings its expertise in industrial environments, while Nokia presents its latest XR innovations. The Medallion project, a collaboration between several companies and research institutions combining immersive technologies and AI in healthcare, will also present its results at the event.

Alongside MatchXR, representatives of the European XR community will gather for their first roundtable discussion to advance technological sovereignty, security and collaboration. Convened by Metaverse Finland and Helsinki XR Center, the meeting brings together participants from ten European countries.

“In the current security environment, strengthening European cooperation and discussing the future we want to build, including our technological choices and digital sovereignty, is essential. EU is one of the world’s largest economies, which means we have influence. We need to come together and decide to exercise that influence collectively,” says Sarita Blomqvist from DIMECC’s Metaverse Finland ecosystem.

MatchXR 2026 takes place at Metropolia’s Arabia campus in Helsinki on November 12, 2026. The event is organized by DIMECC, the Metaverse Finland ecosystem, Helsinki XR Center and Metropolia. It is supported by Nokia, Business Finland, Dassault Systèmes, the Medallion project, Finnish AI Region, the MAKE in Finland ecosystem, XR Women Global, XR4Europe and Enterprise Europe Network (EEN) Finland.

Attendance is free, but registration is required.
